Erdlu

A tall, flightless bird with heavy scales or rough feathers, this creature is up to 8ft tall. It has a long neck, large beak and stands on two tough, sinewy legs. They have powerful hind legs, which were built for jumping great lengths.

Erdlu inhabit warm plains, or in domesticated herds near to large settlements. Erdlu are omnivorous, hunting snakes, lizards, and other small reptiles, as well as grazing. Erdlu can live up to 30 years, but in the wild a life span of 15 to 20 years is more typical.

Erdlu eggs are about 2 feet in diameter, which they lay in egg wells, small holes dug underground. A typical clutch contains 5 to 10 hatchlings. Erdlu become adults when 2 to 4 years old; females mature about six months earlier than males.
